Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers stated they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

An important representative said the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
