The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update. Social Media Reaction Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms. The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Required Changes Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated. Service Background The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
