A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
